Toddler Community
@ St. Mark's
Our toddler classroom at St. Mark's is in session Monday through Friday from 8:30am until 3:30pm. An optional early pick-up time of 1pm is available, and an optional extended day runs until 6pm. Children attend 5 days a week and may be dropped off between 8:30am and 8:45am. The toddler classroom has one Lead Teacher (Guide) and one Assistant Teacher (Guide). This classroom has 12 children, with an adult to child ratio of 1:6. We welcome children to attend who are between 2 and 3 years old at program start. Children do not need to have completed toilet learning to attend.
Each day in a Montessori classroom is a little different, as the day is shaped by each child’s interests and independence. The children enjoy a two-hour work period in the classroom, choosing independent work, and have a walk and outdoor play period. The toddlers in this classroom eat lunch together, practicing our table manners, etiquette, and the art of conversation. If children are staying until 3:30pm, there is a rest period in the afternoon after lunch.
The Lead and Assistant Guides work to provide a joyful and supportive environment, give children individual and group lessons, allow the children freedom to explore, and build a peaceful community.
We are pleased to offer a no-commitment program for parents in terms of volunteering. Our Lead and Assistant Guides are happy to assist and support the children in the classroom. We also offer monthly parent education evenings to further support caregivers and families.
